August is here and that means football is pretty much here as well.
The Titans have just started training camp and will play all three of their preseason games this month, first in Baltimore then they’ll host Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, as well as the Cardinals.
Vanderbilt’s second season under head coach Clark Lea will kick off on Aug. 27 when the Commodores fly to Honolulu to play the University of Hawaii. Tennessee, MTSU and TSU will start their seasons in early September.
However, before football starts to rollout, Nissan Stadium and downtown Nashville will host the second annual Big Machine Music City Grand Prix IndyCar race from Aug. 5-7. The IndyCar world will turn to Nashville as some of the best drivers in the world face off as the racing season begins to wind down and each race means so much more. 2022 Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson will be looking to defend his 2021 MCGP win but will have to beat drivers like Will Power, Scott Dixon and Nashville native Josef Newgarden.
Professional Bull Riding (PBR) will be back in town during Aug. 19-21 but it will look a bit different this year as the PBR has started a new team series and Nashville’s team will act as the home team at Bridgestone Arena event. The Nashville Stampede is Music City’s newest professional team which consists of world class bull riders including 2018 PBR World Champion Kaique Pacheco.
Nashville SC will also be playing a handful of games at GEODIS Park but will need to shake things up as they only sit sixth place in the Western Conference with 32 points. In the month of July, the Boys in Gold only won a single game while losing twice and tying three times despite the fact that they only played two away games. Out of their six games in August, NSC will play four at home, which includes Western Conference rivals Dallas, Minnesota and Colorado. After August, Nashville will only have five matches left before the MLS Playoffs begin.
