Nashville SC Announces Third Annual Road To Opening Match Day Of Service
For the third straight year, Nashville Soccer Club will partner with the Nashville Tree Foundation to plant over 60 trees in Music City in part of its Road to Opening Match Day of Service on Saturday, April 30.
Nashville SC and the Nashville Tree Foundation, one of Nashville’s leading nonprofit organizations supporting environmental sustainability, will provide fans, supporters and members of the community the opportunity to commemorate the opening of GEODIS Park by planting trees along Brown’s Creek Greenway, which borders Fair Park and GEODIS Park.
The Day of Service is part of MLS WORKS Greener Goals initiative and the League’s commitment to address its greenhouse gas footprint by measuring, reducing and offsetting emissions and raising awareness about environmental issues throughout the soccer community.
The collaboration also showcases Nashville SC’s commitment to supporting local sustainability efforts throughout the Nashville region, including Root Nashville—an effort to plant 500,000 trees in Middle Tennessee by the year 2050.
Nashville SC and the Nashville Tree Foundation will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of National Arbor Day by giving away 150 additional trees during the event for families and local businesses to take home and plant in surrounding areas.
Fans and supporters can signup on to help the club plant trees and learn more about the event at HandsOnNashville.com.
