Lipscomb’s Liza Corso Qualifies For The Tokyo Paralympics

Lipscomb University Track & Field freshman Liza Corso has qualified for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo and will represent the United States Track & Field in the 1500m run.

Corso, a graduate of Portsmouth Christian Academy (PCA), was a top high school runner in New Hampshire, competing at high levels even with a low-vision disability. Born with a genetic disorder called albinism, Corso is considered legally blind and runs without depth perception, having over 20/200 vision.

She has been an award-winning, All-State runner for the school’s cross country, winter track, and spring track teams. According to PCA Coach, Mike Shevenell, Corso is the most-decorated runner of all time in PCA’s athletic history.

The Tokyo Paralympic Games will take place Aug. 24-Sept. 5. The Women’s 1500m – T13 Final will take place Saturday, Aug. 28 from 5 to 8 a.m. CST at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

 

 

Rick Stockstill Live Show To Be Hosted At The Boulevard Bar And Grill

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) head football coach Rick Stockstill will broadcast this season of Rick Stockstill Live, powered by Middle Tennessee Electric, at The Boulevard Bar and Grill in Murfreesboro. The show will be hosted near the MTSU campus each Monday night at 6 p.m. prior to games.

New to the show this year will be a segment with a different player each week, and on some occasions there will also be an assistant coach. Fans can watch the show live each week on the Blue Raider App or listen live on the radio at WGNS. The show will re-air at 7 p.m. on 102.5 The Game.

Chip Walters, the voice of the Blue Raiders, will host the show with the first episode airing on Aug. 30 prior to the season opener vs Monmouth. Other show dates are set for Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27; Oct. 4, 18, and 25; and Nov. 1, 8, 15, and Nov. 22.

 

 

Four Tennessee Volunteers Named To 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List 

Four Tennessee Volunteers were named to the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List, including Princeton Fant (tight end), Velus Jones Jr. (wide receiver/kick returner), Cade Mays (offensive lineman) and Alontae Taylor (defensive back).

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is the nation’s most prestigious college all-star game as it annually serves as the first step of the NFL Draft process. The Reese’s Senior Bowl had 106 total players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. This year’s game will be played on Feb. 5, 2022 and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

Fant started his career as a running back and moved to tight end prior to the 2019 season. The Nashville native is coming off the best year of his career, seeing action in all 10 games while setting career highs in receptions (12), receiving yards (103) and touchdown catches (1). Jones led the SEC in kickoff return yards (398) and was second in the league in kickoff return average (22.11). The Saraland, Alabama, native notably ranks first among active Division I FBS career leaders with 2,345 career kickoff return yards.

Mays, a native of Knoxville, started in seven games during his first season with the Vols in 2021, seeing action on 478 offensive snaps. Six of Mays’ starts came at right guard with the other start coming at right tackle. Mays began his career at Georgia and has played in 32 career games with 25 starts. Taylor totaled 102 tackles for his career, including 29 last season to go along with five passes defended. As a junior, Taylor saw action on 439 snaps with 234 of those coming in coverage.
