Mitchell Tenpenny

Country recording artist Mitchell Tenpenny has announced he is joining Music City Baseball’s Music Industry Advisory Board.

In the music video of Tenpenny’s latest hit “Bucket List,” he’s shown rocking his vintage “Nashville Stars” jersey, which pays homage to the legendary Negro Leagues teams who played in Nashville in the 1940s prior to the integration of Major League Baseball.

“Growing up in Nashville, it’s always been a dream to have a Major League team here. This city is perfect for it. I am excited to get involved and actively pursue this item on my bucket list,” says Tenpenny.

“Having a Nashville native on our team is really important to us because we want the Nashville Stars to be deep rooted in the community. Mitchell knows the city like the back of his hand and has a passion for baseball. We are honored to be included in his music video and look forward to having him join our team,” says John Loar, Managing Director of Music City Baseball.

Tenpenny joins entertainment icons Justin Timberlake, Darius Rucker, Kane Brown, Bobby Bones and Luke Combs, among others, in providing strategic counsel and generating community excitement around Nashville being home to a Major League Baseball team.

As a one of the top destination for sports and entertainment fans of all kinds, Bridgestone Arena has been nominated for Pollstar’s Arena of the Year award 16 times, with 13 consecutive nominations from 2007 to 2019 and wins in 2014 and 2017.

“Over the past 10 years and beyond, it has been truly remarkable to witness the positive impact that Bridgestone Arena’s growth and success have had on Downtown Nashville and the Middle Tennessee community,” says Kells. “Our organization is honored to receive Pollstar’s Arena of the Decade nomination, and we would not be in contention for this prestigious award without the endless support of millions of fans and the tireless efforts of countless artists, managers, agents, promoters, entertainment industry professionals, partners and local government officials among many others. As we reflect on a decade’s worth of amazing memories made at Bridgestone Arena, we also look forward to hosting sold-out crowds and events again very soon as a result of increasing COVID-19 vaccine distribution and continued adherence to all health and safety protocols.”

After opening in 1996 as Nashville Arena, Bridgestone Arena has had the distinction of being one of the busiest venues in the United States, hosting more than 25.6 million guests throughout its existence. In its 2020 Year-End Ticket Sales report, Pollstar listed Bridgestone Arena as 7th in the United States and 16th in the world for ticket sales, inclusive solely of show and concert tickets. In 2017, with Pollstar’s ranking of 4th in the U.S. and 12th in the world, Bridgestone Arena earned its highest domestic finishing position and tied its 2015 global ranking.

Bridgestone Arena has hosted events from the CMA Awards, the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament, The 2016 NHL All-Star Game, the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017 as well as Professional Bull Riding and UFC.

Music City Grand Prix has announced that Big Machine will be the title sponsor for the IndyCar race this summer.

Big Machine President and CEO and lifelong racing fan Scott Borchetta joined the Nashville Grand Prix as investor in late 2020.

“Having Big Machine on board is a great alignment with our brand,” says Matt Crews, CEO of Music City Grand Prix. “Big Machine’s President and CEO Scott Borchetta is a racing enthusiast himself and has been an integral part of Music City Grand Prix as an owner. He will also provide his expertise in music – further proving this festival will be one of speed and sound.”

This multi-year commitment from Big Machine as the title sponsor of the Grand Prix shows the brand’s dedication and passion for motorsports and speaks to what Nashville is, and what this event will become this year and beyond.

“I’ve worked for decades bringing racing and music together and I can’t think of a better way to welcome the IndyCars back to Nashville than honoring them with our namesake,” says Borchetta. “My very first race was an IndyCar race, the California 500, and this brings it full circle.  I truly believe that we’ve created the most exciting new weekend in racing anywhere in the world and Nashville is going to roll out the red carpet.  This will be a party you don’t want to miss.”

Big Machine recently has ventured out into both spirits as well as racing with Big Machine Distillery and Big Machine Racing. BMLG also sponsors a car in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

“Being title sponsor of this racing and music festival weekend is the perfect way to celebrate major events returning to the world after more than a year of sheltering,” says Big Machine Distillery Executive Vice President Mark Borchetta. “Integrating Big Machine Vodka and our new Spiked Cooler vodka juice pouches into the weekend supports our optimism and excitement about the world returning to a semblance of normalcy.”

The three-day international racing festival will be on August 6-8, 2021. It will be staged on a temporary 2.17-mile grand prix circuit in Nashville and around the Nissan Stadium campus. The course will cross the Cumberland River via the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge, making the Music City Grand Prix the only current event in motorsports to cross over a major body of water.

Single day and weekend passes are on sale now and include grandstand and reserved seating as well as VIP packages.

The Predators And MTSU Announce First Ever General’s Fund Recipient

The Nashville Predators have announced that MTSU student Keyann Reaves is the first ever recipient of the General’s Fund.

MTSU, the Predators, and the late country singer Charlie Daniels joined to create the General’s Fund to help support veterans and their children pay for the expenses of college.

Reaves, a Jackson, Tennessee, native, who’s father served in the U.S. Navy, was awarded after not being able to register for classes last fall.

“My months ran out in October, and I didn’t know,” says Reaves. “I just thought my deferment was late. December comes, and I can’t register for classes because my bill is $3,000. I called everyone I can think of on campus.”

Luckily, one of those calls went to Daniels Center Director, Dr. Hilary Miller, who said Reaves was precisely the type of student for whom the fund was established to assist. The fund, is administered by MTSU’s Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center. It also recognizes retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Huber, who now serves as MTSU’s senior adviser for veterans and leadership initiatives.

“MTSU proudly serves more than 1,100 military-connected students, yet about 20 percent of them no longer have the educational benefits that were earned through service to our country,” says Predators President and CEO Sean Henry. “The General’s Fund will help fill that gap.”

The Money raised through the fund has bridged the financial gap for Reaves, allowing her to continue working on her master’s degree in Chemical Medicine this spring.
