New Nashville SC Stadium Set To Open One Month Ahead Of Schedule

Nashville SC’s new stadium at the Fairgrounds will be completed a month ahead of schedule. The club will play its first game at its permanent home against the Philadelphia Union on May 1, as announced by Nashville SC CEO Ian Ayre this morning (Nov. 22).

“Thanks to the 600 workers we have on sight right now and the fantastic work by them and others, we’re able to announce that the stadium will now finish almost a month ahead of schedule,” Ayre shared at a press conference. “Which, in turn, means we can play all of our 2022 home games here at this stadium… We’re so thankful to all of the people that have made this happen. There are too many to mention, but it’s an exciting day for the club.”

The stadium will be the largest soccer specific stadium in the United States. It has also proven to be a key factor in the success of the club’s early years as they have sold close to 20,000 tickets

“I know for our fans, everyone is going to be super excited for that opening game,” added Ayre. “I can tell you demand has been huge. Ninety percent of our premium seats have sold out and around 18,000 season tickets sold already.”

The club’s first match of the 2022 season will be on Feb. 27 as the Boys in Gold visit Seattle Sounder FC. They will play on the road for the first two months of the regular season before coming home and opening the newest cathedral of Nashville sports.

“Whether you’re a football fan, a hockey fan, or a soccer fan, the stadium your team plays in is the real spiritual home of the club,” Ayre summed. “Nashville’s proven with the Predators and the Titans that these stadiums are where it’s all about. It’s where you come and create those memories that you have forever.”

Nashville will finish out its 2021 season at Nissan Stadium as the MLS Cup Playoffs begin. The club hosts Orlando City FC on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. CT.
